Marcie & Matt ~ Joyfulness and Laughter

I have never seen a couple as relaxed as Marcie and Matt on their wedding day. And I’ve photographed a lot of weddings in the past year! I could attribute it to the fact that Marcie plans events at her job, or the fact that they chose to do a first look to ease nerves, or that friends and family made things flow smoothly. But I know what it really comes down to: they were so in love and so ready for this next step that nothing could stress them out.

From the moment I met them at our initial consult, I knew I wanted to work with them. They were so easy to talk to, didn’t come with a long list of demands, and gave me all the information up front. Most importantly, they laughed. These two know how to have a good time and they create an environment around them that welcomes everyone else into that joy.

By the time the actual day came, they handled it like pros, which didn’t surprise me at all. They had an unbelievably intimate and sincere first look—they were both giddy with excitement and ready to say “I do.” From there, we all piled into a van and took some really fun photos with their bridal party. Again, I wasn’t surprised to find that their friends were just as cheerful and laid-back as they were. Talk about making my job easy! We took photos at some of my favorite downtown spots: Union Station and Civic Center Park before heading to the hotel downtown for the actual ceremony.

They were all smiles throughout their vows, and then eventually full-blown laughter when Marcie fumbled some words. I loved seeing them take something as serious as wedding vows and make it a time for laughter. It was perfect for them.

The night ended with a delicious meal and lots and lots of dancing. Marcie and Matt, if you approach your marriage with the same joyfulness you started it with, I have no doubt you’ll be smiling forever. Thank you for inviting me to photograph your big day. I so, so appreciate it!

  1. What a beautiful wedding! I love the variety you got in all of the bridal portraits and I love all of their small and sweet details. That cake is beautiful and I too, like the other girls, love the sock photo with the groom and groomsmen! Too fun!
